Our Founder, Dr. M.A. Thomas

ma_office_2007Today, Hopegivers' sponsors are helping to feed and rescue children every day, and we are so grateful for them. But before there was Hopegivers, there was Emmanuel.

It was 1960 when I set out with my lovely wife, Ammini, on a journey of faith. We were determined to walk the 1,500 miles to our destination: the city of Kota in the state of Rajasthan. We had no money, a mere handful of earthly belongings, not even a map. Nevertheless, we had the call of God in our hearts and that was enough! Fortunately, we did not have to walk. Campus Crusade for Christ founder, Dr. Bill Bright, was in India at the time and he gave me money out of his own pocket to pay the train fare. Ammini was pregnant at the time, so we were especially grateful!

We arrived in Kota and launched the ministries of Emmanuel. There was a price to be paid, of course. It wasn't easy, but we kept pressing on, planting seeds, watering the soil, anticipating the blessings to come. Inspired by the work underway in India, American friends decided to form Hopegivers International to help save more children.

What blessings God has given! Four decades later, our Hope Homes are filled with thousands of precious children who were once hurting, helpless and without hope. Graduates from Hopegivers-sponsored institutes all over India are committed to reaching out to children and anyone else in need. And there is so much more. Praise God for what He has done!

As always, we appreciate so much the dear friends whom God has raised up to support Hopegivers with prayer and financial support. Each one of you is an instrument to give hope in the name of Jesus.

God bless you!
