Elealsha, 5 (L) Eleena, 4 (R)--These adorable sisters were rescued in 2006 after their father--who was an addict and notorious troublemaker--was murdered by someone in the neighborhood. Their mother did the best she could to provide for the girls, but she did not earn enough at her job as a sweeper. On a good day, she could earn about $2, but most days yielded much less. Trying to meet the needs of her two precious girls soon became overwhelming and threatened to tear the family apart. Finally, she brought the girls to this Hope Home she had heard much about. A place where her children could be raised in a happy, healthy, safe environment--far from the chaotic slum they were now in.
When the girls came here in 06', they were in very poor health--badly malnourished and covered with lice and scabies. But in just the short year and a half they've been here, their lives have been transformed. Both girls are now healthy, playful and full of joy. They also are able to attend school for the first time and seem to be adjusting very well. When asked if they like their new home, their beaming smiles say it all. Thanks to the help of HG sponsors, Elealsha and Eleena get the chance to be kids again.
