Of the 16,309 various "people groups" that have been identified around the globe, 6,631 - nearly 41% - have yet to hear the gospel of Jesus.* The Bible says in Romans 10: 14-15,
“But how are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’”
Beautiful ARE the feet of those who bring the good news. Planting churches that preach the good news raises up disciples who can teach Scripture while simultaneously serving widows, rescuing children, and helping others who are in desperate need. That is indeed beautiful.
However, in the great majority of the world that is yet to hear about Jesus, many not only don’t want you to come, but they actively and violently oppose your presence. They attack pastors and many more men, women, and children gathered together as Christians in a Bible study or prayer meeting. They also attack the churches that serve as Hope Homes for orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children. Many are beaten and driven from their homes, losing all their earthly possessions. Some are stabbed, shot, tortured, imprisoned, or even murdered. ALL SUFFER.
This opposition and threat of violence does not mean that the will of men can trump God’s calling. God continues to send, so it is our job to trust and obey His call. If we are not sent ourselves, then we are called to support and pray for those He does send. The opposition does not surprise us because Jesus experienced persecution Himself. He told His followers that they too would suffer persecution when they went out into the world with the good news.
Hopegivers International serves in many areas where this violence and opposition to the Gospel is a daily reality. Any information Hopegivers might disclose about these areas WILL be used by those who oppose Jesus and His message of salvation to bring harm to those who follow Him. For this reason, we must do all we can to protect and serve these brave men, women, and children.
We ask that you join us to support these men, women, and children who are serving on the front lines to advance the Gospel. To protect them you will not receive photos, updates, names, or news about these individuals and locations. But Hopegivers desperately needs you to partner with us in prayer and in financially supporting their efforts. What you will receive is the joy of partnering with these brave saints as they share the Gospel as well as an eternal reward that only the Lord can give you one day.
